Should you prefer self-directed/ Robo investments from 2016 and forward?

The media often professes the benefits of self-directed investments. They argue that advisor's fees/ commissions hit performance.

Honestly answer this question: “If you are going on long trips do you prefer to take the express-ways and/or national highways with tolls or take the back / odd roads to avoid toll?”

Compare the money saved on tolls to the time and extra spent on petrol/ diesel.

Compare the value adds of an advisor in terms of returns, service and administration to that of self-directed investments.

What game do you like?

If you are a cricket fan, would you wear a kit and play the game the professional players if given an opportunity?

I wouldn't take that kind of risk and make a mockery.

It is similar in investing. When you make your own decisions, you are against professionals. In cricket you will be stopped by someone from playing with professionals, but in investing no one can stop you from jumping into this game. And you can get hurt. That is why use a professional investment advisor.
